Life has been so insanely hectic lately I have not even seen Harry Potter! I know! That IS insane.
Well, that is not the case anymore. I am going today even if I have to go alone.
One of the major drawbacks to being so busy is that I haven't read OPB (that's Other People's Blogs, and not to be confused with OPP). So as soon as I finish up here I will try my best to remedy that error.
A couple of weeks ago, Friday and I bought a house. We kept it on the DL for so long because we didn't want to jinx it. Now it's a done deal, so Ima declaring it to the world (wide web)... I'M A HOMEOWNER!
And now that that's done... holy crap Batman! No one told me how much effin' work was involved in owning a home. Especially because our home is about three times the size of the apartment we moved out of. However we are slowly filling it up. Case in point, our couch and loveseat were picked up yesterday. Once we get the dining room table that Friday has in storage, our entire downstairs will be all set. Well, minus the sweet ass deck/back porch we have. We are waiting for the end of summer sales for that jazz.
Wedding planning is going ok. It was on hiatus while I stood in my younger and much cuter cousin's wedding. About seven years ago I introduced my cousin to this girl I knew. Thinking, hey "he's 17, she's 17; maybe they will hit it off". Little did I know I would be a bridesmaid in their wedding several years later. By the way, thanks Primo for making me the oldest Bridesmaid ever. Appreciate it. Nonetheless, I am proud of my match-making and would do it again in an instant. The bride looked amazing!! I am so happy for the two of them. My family as nutty and as loving as they are, can be a bit on the involved side, so hopefully these two young-ins will get to do their own thing and just enjoy being married for a bit.
I made a toast at the wedding. I figured I should since it was all my fault that we were all there... in green apple dresses. Ahem. Anyways, yeah. It went pretty well until I started crying. I just thank God (and my makeup guy) for waterproof make up.
Seriously... thank you God (and David).
So my wedding planning is coming along tho. I don't think it'll be as "nice" as the newlyweds, but only because we are doing a lot of the work ourselves. Decorations are on our own and we hired a caterer to serve buffet style. Whereas they had it at hotel w/all the trimmings. I wish! I do feel kinda bad. My cousin bought me this cute wedding planning book which I have opened all of twice. Once to see what was in it and the second time to fill out some of the info... otherwise, it just sits under my bed. Oh well. I just work better w/lists online and stuff.
I have to admit, I'm getting excited as it approaches and now that all the wedding party (minus a second Usher Usher) have been set, things should start progressing nicely. I have not had a chance to get my veil or the flowers, but I am working on it. I actually had a nightmare this weekend that a florist laughed in my face for waiting as long as I have. But it's tough! I'm a busy woman!
Anyways... work is kicking my ass! I know I keep saying this and I'm starting to be a broken-record blogger, but holy crap!! I never knew it'd be like this. I mean seriously, I will go days without getting to check my email. Not my work email, my personal... but still! I mean that could take what 30 seconds and I still ain't got the time?!?
I do enjoy it though. I am not complaining on that end.... even when I have to work weekends or into the evening. I mean, in higher education; it just comes with the territory. I am hoping we put off hiring an Admissions Coordinator, etc until I can get further into my graduate studies so that I might be a contender. We'll see.
I have been pondering the music to our wedding lately. I want to make sure it's a good mix. I think I am probably going to piss off a few peeps, but I don't really want too much Tejano at my wedding. I like country and hip hop more. Of course, I will have to consider the older guests, but hopefully they will enjoy a good oldie in lieu of the cumbia. We'll see.
I am currently blogging from the Kitchen nook table. I have beautiful flowers in front of me and a well-organized kitchen. Off to my left is a cat, blissfully resting in our kitchen window seat. Which reminds me, I need to get a seat for that bad boy. Hmmm, I wonder if Anna's Linens might have the hook up...
So Friday and I are TOTALLY looking forward to registering now that we have this big ass house to decorate. We have some essentials, but I am holding off of the bathrooms, etc until we can get stuff for our wedding. I am sure when the time comes we'll be set. I have great friends and family... as does Friday. Registering is really why we are getting married. :D But shhhh, don't tell anyone.
Less than four months to go.... ugh! I still have so much to do! I better go.
I'll be in touch.
