Lesson learned

I just remembered a funny tidbit (great word! tidbit) from Friday night.

So I'm with 3 other ladies - The Roommate, Stacy, and another friend.

We're sitting on two couches across from each other, listening to a cover band cover it up and this guy walked over, plopped himself (literally) on the couch between me and The Roommate, threw his arms around our shoulders, turned to me and said:

Dude: So, hi.

Me: Hello.

Dude: I had to come over... because well, truth be told, I find one of you four ladies very attractive... and I wanted to say so.

Me: *is this guy for real?* What?

At this point, The Roommate is pulling as far away from this guy as possible that she's practically off the couch and I'm smiling because I saw this guy before he walked over... and he is LITTLE. We're talking 5'4" MAYBE. Anyway, so then I said...

Me: You know you said it all wrong. You should have said "I find all FOUR of you attractive, but there is one woman in particular I'm feeling a certain special connection with." That way you compliment all of us and yet still manage to come out as a "good guy".

Dude: oh. *mouth open* yeah. That's good.

Me: See, cause now you just seem superficial. But I'll help you out. It's HER birthday (pointing to Stacy) - you should go wish her a happy birthday.

This is when "Shorty" jumps off my couch and begins to give Stacy a lap dance. It was so damn funny.

Now, in hindsight, I suppose his "line" wasn't TOO terrible. I mean, a response to his whole "I find one of you attractive" could have been "Oh yeah? Is it me?!?!". To which he could have replied "Definitely, you". And badda bing badda boom! Home run.

Guess it was a good thing I wasn't attracted to him WHATSOEVER. In any case, fellas, give that whole "special connection" thing a try and let me know how it goes. I'd be curious to see if it works like I think it would.
