Does anyone else ever feel guilty or ridiculous for using their check cards for purchases in the vicinity of $1?
Yes? No?
Well, I do. Especially since I do it ALL THE TIME. I never ever carry cash (I'd spend it), so when I'm at the local gas station (Valero, formerly Diamond Shamrock), buying my daily cup of Joe (jo?) and it costs $1.07, rather than whipping out the buck seven (cause I don't carry cash, remember?), I whip out my check card. And then I sign my receipt for a whole $1.07. And every damn time I feel like the biggest douche. I feel like I should buy something else with my coffee. Something expensive to make it worth using my check card. But... I don't. Cause while it might alleviate my guilt, it would be stupid and I try to keep the stupid things I do to a minimum.
So, the other day I had a revelation!
I would buy myself a Valero GIFTCARD with my check card and therefore would only have to whip THAT out every time I spend $1.07 (which is daily). This way I'm not using my check card for such a small amount nor having to write into my check registry $1.07 to Valero 4-5 times a week.
Wonder why I didn't do this 2-3 months ago. Hmmmm.. odd.

There ya go. you ARE a genius. :) I stopped writing stuff in my check register years ago.
Not just a pretty face ;-)
Gift cards also make it look like someone cared enough to send the very best to you. So when you whip that out, people will go green with envy.
