New Year's with the fam... holy crap!
Now don't get me wrong, it was "good times" but still... my fam are serious Mexis.
New Year's Eve Friday and I first went over to visit with his mom. She is so sweet. I really enjoy hanging out with her. I can only hope she likes me back. I think so but like I always say "ya never know!"
After that we headed to my grandfather's house. But shuush. Don't tell my Mom. She thinks we were downtown because if I told her we were at my grandfather's all night she would have made a HUGE ass stink. Long story there.
But I digress.
Anyways, so as per usual, New Year's w/the fam is filled with food, and then more food, booze and fireworks. When I mean "food, and then more food", I really cannot express to y'all the full extent of the amount of food I am talking about. Sure there was a big ass crowd there, but did we really need to have enough food for 100 people? I don't think so. Friday DID try his first real bowl of menudo (not the band) and to my utter joy, pronounced it edible. He's so friggin' cute!
In addition to tons of food, New Year's is also about fireworks. No, not the ones downtown or the ones on TV; I'm talking about our own fireworks display. My cousins/aunts/uncles go crazy! It all seemed pretty par for the course until... they started a fire in the backyard neighbor's yard. Yep. One of their trees was caught on fire. Which led to about 30 minutes and two or three cousins getting drenched as they stood on an extension ladder with a water hose in their hands. I joked w/my grandfather saying that I think the neighbor's are probably going to wonder why their water pressure sucked for that 30 minute time span. It was entertaining yet scary since it seemed to take forever to stop. I know what you're thinking... why didn't we call the Fire Department. Well, they would have certainly confiscated everyone's firecrackers... and THAT is unacceptable.
Truly.
In the meantime, Friday and I were hanging out with fam, eating, talking, freezing our asses off (Relatively speaking of course. I think it was maybe 40 something degrees out.) and playing with my new camera (courtesy of Friday). I lit a few firecrackers, but nothing too crazy. And yet I still managed to burn a few holes in my very flammable gloves. What can I say? I am just that intelligent!
Anyways, at midnight I got my kiss(es) and hugs and made sure to send out a few text messages and calls. And then way after that, Friday and I went home to his place and made sweet sweet monkey love. I say "monkey love" because Friday called me an "animal".
And I have the carpet burns to prove it.
HAPPY NEW YEAR'S EVERYONE!
