My friend Erin (you remember her, the girl from My 25th Birthday post) and I were discussing a problem of hers the other day. Seems she is at odds w/a friend of hers. Now there are several issues at play there, but the one she chose to share with me was the most interesting of all.
So, apparently very recently her and her friend were hanging out. And her friend started telling her up about a guy friend of hers from work that was going to be meeting them out. Things like "oh, he's super cute, really nice, friendly, I'd hook up with him but we work together, all the other chicks at work wanna hook up with him too", etc etc. Basically with the intent of being "matchmaker". In essence saying "If you make the right moves - I'll put in the good word - He's all yours".
Anyway, so looking forward to a "nice, evening out", Erin goes out with them. We'll call them Will Spreads Her Legs For Anyone (WSHLFA) and Asshole On Legs (AOL), just to make things easier. Seems about halfway through the night she remembers looking over and seeing WSHLFA and AOL seriously making out. Unfortunately, as she was drunk, there was nothing Erin could do but watch in horror.
You can imagine the rest.
Yes, they had a threesome.
Uhm, NO. Crazy. You nasty.
Not at all. Poor Erin got stuck out in cold with no one to make out with. Third wheel syndrome. Been there, sucks.
Anyway, she's telling me this story. And of course, I'm completely sympathetic. And then she says, "Why would WSHLFA do that? I mean she straight up cockblocked me."
HOLY SHIT! A chic can cockblock another chic? And would she? Apparently. Should she? Dude, not with your homegirl!
Interjection: For those of you unawares of the term cockblock... Wikipedia defines it as "a vulgar slang term in popular culture describing the act of disrupting a romantic or lustful encounter between two people--presumably leading to sexual intercourse--by a third party. This type of interruption is usually (however, not always)assumed to be the result of vindictiveness or jealousy by the interloper, who may be referred to as a cockblocker."
So, yeah. I have to admit, I've never considered the act of cockblocking to be one that a woman could perform on another woman. It just always seemed like a "guy" thing to do. But apparently, I was wrong. Very wrong. So, I finish with this thought. Let's not be "That Girl" (only I can be Thatgirl7278) ladies. We owe it to each other that if there is booty involved, to step aside, pat our homegirls on the back, toss her a condom and wish her the best.
For womanhood.
