October means a lot of things to a lot of people - to me it means more than Halloween or the start of the Spurs season. It's the time of the year I celebrate a few anniversaries.
The first of which - is the anniversary of the biggest burn on me in my entire life. It was 2001 - the week of Columbus Day. This week in fact. When I was crushed by my roommate at the time. My so-called "friend", Chris. We'd known each other half our lives. Hell! He was my "prom date" for crying out loud.
I say it with quotes because while he technically asked me to go with him and I technically did - I refused to be his "date". We were just two people sharing the same ride and ticket. But he paid for dinner. Anyway, I digress.
Yeah, so. It's really a VERY long and slightly boring story. But suffice it to say I was an emotional wreck afterwards and it took me a long time and a great post-Chris roommate (love you Stacy) to move on. But to put it in perspective - he is the reason I have abandonment issues now (fucker!).
Amongst the other personal historical events I attribute the month of October to, is probably one of the most profound. The most influential. The most, how shall I put this... life-changing.
You see - back in 1996. I met this guy. And well, one thing led to another. Lives were changed. Moments were shared.
Yep, you guessed it.
I DID IT!
I was 18. I was not entirely sober. He was a jerk and not very good.
Hmmm, coulda been the 8 or 9 wine coolers I had consumed that night. That's right, I was super cool and drank wine coolers at 18. I think that was actually the last time I ever did. Weird.
So, there you have it folks. Just a couple of the important life-changing events I celebrate in October. Sure there are a few more, but I can't share ALL my juicy stuff (at least not all at once). Gotta leave some reason for you to come back.
