First day of class

I haven't mentioned it before because well, I wasn't sure if it was going to happen, but I have gone back to school.

As you may or may not remember, I work for a local community college. One of my "benefits" is that I can take up to 6 hours a semester for free. I just have to pay for the books.

Well, last semester I saw that my school was starting a Mexican-American Studies Program. To be honest, this excited the hell out of me. In college I took a few Latin American history courses, but they just weren't the same. They didn't fill that void I needed... uhm.. filling. So yeah. Here I am. Taking "Introduction to Mexican-American Studies". I'm super pysched. My professor is... uhm... nice. And more importantly, the assignments seem manageable. I think I'm really going to learn a few things. In a way, I'm also hoping that this will get me more excited about applying for graduate school next fall... pero no se. WOAH! Look at me! One Mexi-American class and I'm already tossing out the Spanish like a real Mexi. It's amazing!

The best part is that my co-workers are really proud of me for taking this course. According to them "it's about time you learned how to be a Mexican-American". I, of course, took this as an insult and bitch-slapped them immediately. It was fun. I would encourage everyone to bitch slap their fellow co-workers at some point. Trust me, you won't regret it.

Anyway, I am actually going to take some reading home with me today... and get a head start.

Learning is fun!

Congratulations! I'm sure you'll have a great time taking the classes and learning so much about being a Mexi.
