Nostalgia

Slow day at work – and in blog world. But once I got this email I knew I had to post it.

Enjoy… (NOT!)

You Know You Grew Up In The 80's or Early 90's If:

1. You've ever ended a sentence with the word SIKE.

2. You watched the Pound Puppies.

3. You can sing the rap to the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and can do the “Carlton”.
As we all know, I am WELL versed in the theme to the Fresh Prince and will periodically jam it out.

4. Girls wore biker shorts under their skirts and felt stylishly sexy.
I never did this. Thank God.

5. You yearned to be a member of the Baby-sitters club and tried to start a club of your own.
DESPERATELY wanted to be a member of the BSC, but I never tried start my own. I still have the whole series of books… somewhere in my parents’ house.

6. You owned those lil' Strawberry Shortcake pals scented dolls.
Still do. In fact, I even know which closet they are in at my parents’ house.

7. You know that "WOAH" comes from Joey on Blossom.
Doesn’t everybody?

8. Two words: Hammer Pants.
Yikes! Someone tell me why that man has a pair of pants named after him? I’d love for their to be “Ari Pants”. They’d probably just be any pair of pants that look big in the ass (meaning, I have none.).

9. If you ever watched "Fraggle Rock".
“Down at Fraggle Rock.”

10. You had plastic streamers on your handle bars... and spokey-dokes or playing cards on your spokes for that incredible sound effect.
eh. I wasn’t a big bike rider. Well, except when I was really young and we'd have those bik competitions where you would ride in and around cones and stuff. I even think I won one year.

11. You can sing the entire theme song to "Duck Tales" (Woo ooh!).
Not the ENTIRE theme… but some of it, sure.

12. It was actually worth getting up early on a Saturday to watch cartoons.
Dude, uh yeah!

13. You wore a ponytail on the side of your head.
I don’t really remember doing this. My hair was short back then.

14. You saw the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on the big screen and still know the Turtles names.
Donatello, Raphael, Michelangelo, and Leonardo (I had to Google Leonardo’s name.). But I also remember Shredder and their Rat Master… uhm… “Splinter”?

15. You got super-excited when it was "Oregon Trail Day" in computer class at school.
Heh. Yeah, I did.

16. You made your mom buy one of those clips that would hold your shirt in a knot on the side.
I know I didn’t do this!

17. You played the game "MASH"(Mansion, Apartment, Shelter, House).
Still do, actually.

18. You wore stonewashed Jordache jean jackets and were proud of it.

19. "L.A. Gear"....need I say more?
Mine were pink.

20. You wanted to change your name to "JEM" in Kindergarten. (She's Truly Outrageous.) LOVED Jem!! But then again, I loved anything even remotely Barbie-like.

21. You remember reading "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing" and all The Ramona books.
I was a book nerd… so, of course, I do.

22. You know the profound meaning of "WAX ON. WAX OFF.".
Profound? No, but I was sure after watching that movie I could kick ANYONE’S ass.

23. You wanted to be a Goonie.

24. You ever wore fluorescent clothing.

25. You can remember what Michael Jackson looked like before his nose fell off and his cheeks shifted.

26. You have ever pondered why Smurfette was the only female smurf.
That dirty whore!

27. You took lunch boxes to school... and traded Garbage Pailkids in the schoolyard.
I never traded them, but sure did have a shitload of ‘em.

28. You remember the CRAZE, then the BANNING of slap bracelets.
Not really into the slap bracelets. Kind of like the whole Lance – yellow bracelet craze. Eh. I have one, but I never wear it.

29. You still get the urge to say "NOT" after every sentence.

30. You remember Hypercolor t-shirts.
I had one… and I think my Dad had one too.

31. Barbie and the Rockers was your favorite band.
I had the stage, y’all. The stage!

32. You thought She-ra (Princess of Power!) and He-Man should hook up.
They didn’t!?! That’s messed up. I also had ALL of She-ra’s crew.

33. You thought your childhood friends would never leave because you exchanged handmade friendship bracelets.
I don’t think I ever made one, but I sure had a bunch.

34. You ever owned a pair of Jelly-Shoes.
These even came back!

35. After you saw “Pee-Wee's Big Adventure” you kept saying "I know you are, but what am I?".
Sadly. Yes, I did.

36. You remember "I've fallen and I can't get up".
Duh.

37. You remember going to the skating rink before there were inline skates.
I even remember my first “couple skate” too. I ended up living with him 9 years later… well, him and his BOYFRIEND.

38. You ever got seriously injured on a Slip and Slide.
Is there a class action out there? Cause seriously, I’m in!

39. You have ever played with a Skip-It.
Never. I don’t…skip.

40. You had or attended a birthday party at McDonalds.
I have pictures to back this up. Wish I remember the actual party tho. Oh well.

41. You've gone through this nodding your head in agreement.

42. You remember Popples.
I had a couple of these too! OHMIGAWD!

43. Don't worry, be happy.
I can still whistle this like a rockstar!

44. You wore like, EIGHT pairs of socks over tights with high top Reeboks.
Just 2… maybe 3.

45. You wore socks scrunched down (and sometimes still do..getting yelled at by younger hip members of the family).
Not intentionally!

46. You remember boom boxes and walking around with one on your shoulder like you were all that.
Uhm, no.

47. You remember watching both Gremlins movies.
Classics. Both of them. Anything w/little monsters dressed up in make-up and drag. I’m all over that!

48. You know what it meant to say "Care Bear Stare!!".

49 You remember watching Rainbow Bright and & My Little Pony Tales.

50. You thought Doogie Howser/Samantha Micelli was hot.
More like cute… I don’t think I ever thought of Doogie as “hot”. That was reserved for Johnny Depp in “21 Jump Street”.

51. You remember Alf, the furry brown alien from Melmac.
SOOOO annoying. I also recall my Dad collecting all the Alf dolls from Pizza Inn/Hut.

52. You remember New Kids on the Block when they were cool...and don't even flinch when people refer to them as "NKOTB".
Why would I flinch?

53. You knew all the characters names and their life stories on "Saved By The Bell," The ORIGINAL class.
They still show this shit on TBS in the mornings! Which… I love!

54. You know all the words to Bon Jovi - SHOT THROUGH THE HEART.

55. You just sang those words to yourself.

56. You remember watching Magic vs. Bird.

57. Homemade Levi shorts (the shorter the better).

58. You remember when mullets were cool!

59. You had a mullet!
I did. But I blame my parents.

60. You still sing "We are the World".

61. You tight rolled your jeans.

62. You owned a banana clip.

63. You remember "Where's the Beef?".

64. You used to (and probably still do) say "What you talkin' 'bout Willis?".

65 You had big hair and you knew how to use it.
More like big bangs!

66. You're still singing shot through the heart in your head, aren't you!?

Aside from making me feel old - this forward also forced me to admit just how spoiled I was growing up. I guess being an only child has SOME rewards.

Sike!
