I'm set!

So, Election Day is coming up. Quite the controversial year, eh? I know!

I drive by an early voting poll on my drive to work every morning and it amazes me just how many signs are out on the lawn of this poor establishment (it's a public library btw). So, I decided to take them into consideration. I have decided that I will count each sign and whichever candidate put the biggest and largest number of signs out - they will get my vote. I mean, that is clearly their intent and I would not want to disappoint.

Last night was the final parent/student activity I will be participating in for my job. My co-workers wanted me to give a speech or something similar, but I wasn't interested so I decided to just type a small "adios" in the program. Little did I realize that 5 minutes into the event I'd get...

Student: Miss, I need to speak to you!

Me: Well, I'm sort of handing out dinners here kiddo, can it wait?

Student: No.

Me: Okay. What's up?

Student: Over here, Miss.

We proceed to walk about 5 feet over to the left. My left, not yours.

Me: Okay. What's up?

Student: *points to the program* What is THIS about? Where are you going? You can't leave us.

This is when about 4-5 kids walk up behind me and they're all saying the same thing.

Me: *thinking "Don't cry!"* I'm sorry guys. But it's true.

Student: WHEN!?!?

Me: Probably in another week.

Student: UH... Thanks for the heads up Miss.

It was hard, but it needed to be done. I wasn't saying "adios" to them just yet. There will be one more chance. I'm sure a proper "adios" will need to be done but I'm not sure I'll be able to stop myself from crying. I have to admit, we work with some pretty cool ass kids... and I will definitely miss them. But there are other kids who need my help even more. And that's what I keep telling myself as I move from one program to another.

Editor's Note: Still can't divulge too much on the new job, but I will soon.

Isn't it funny how they worm their way into your heart?
