I have a little crush

So here's the story - about two years ago I met this guy at work.. his name is Mike. He's probably one of the NICEST guys I had met in a long time. He was funny, silly, nice, mature, sweet, and SUPER adorable. He is completely "my type" if I were to say I had a type.

So of course after I met him I had to get all the details on him... and I did. The most important detail being - he's married! DAMN!! Isn't that just my luck. Some lucky chick realized what an amazing guy she had and sure enough convinced him she was "the one" and they got married. I think when we met they had been married about a year.

Mike is younger than me by about 2.5 years... and his wife is MY age, maybe even a bit older. So when they got married, Mike was REALLY young.

Anyway, so as soon as I found out he was married and my hopes and dreams were crushed - my crush went buh-bye. Mike and I became "work friends"... making sure to say hi and catch up when we would see each other.

In the last two years I have found Mike to become just that much more endearing and adorable. He's a Youth Minister for his church, he works very hard, and he's always got a smile on his face.

Also... he plays the guitar... my weakness!

Since I met him, he has become a dad. His son is probably one of the cutest little boys I have ever met... he looks JUST like Mike. So cute!! And of course, every time I see him w/Caleb my heart just melts. I have been so jealous of his wife - I mean, she's married to MY HUSBAND! ;) Ok, so technically not, but you never know!

So the reason I bring ANY of this up now - is because the other day when I was at work, Mike stopped by and as usual he made a point to say Hi to me... cause he's awesome like that. After he left I turned to a mutual friend and wrote her a note that said this...

"I have a secret to share w/you. If Mike wasn't married, I would totally ask him out!"

Well, she freaked out! Apparently she had no idea of my scandalous feelings! (Which is exactly how it should be!)

Then she proceeds to talk about the marital problems Mike has been having the last several months and the drama that is his marriage. They are a lot closer than he and I are (obviously).

So it seems he had moved out of the place he shared w/his wife and son... and then in an attempt to get him back, his wife either quit her job (or was fired) and since she couldn't afford to live on her own w/their son had to move back in w/Mike. It's all a WHOLE LOT of drama and for Mike and his son, I hope everything works out for the best. But last I heard, Mike was working two jobs to support them (she still doesn't work) and while he may be going through the motions, he thinks the reason they are still together right now is because of convenience... probably convenience for her.

It's all very sad - but I have to admit, ever since I heard all this I've been thinking - I wonder what I would do if they ever broke up. I mean - this is got to be one of the hardest things he has had to go through, and yet her I am entertaining thoughts of being with him. I do feel a little guilty. In the meantime, I will learn as much of the situation as I can and be a good friend to Mike. Cause I'm sure he could use one.
