La Raza Part Tres

The entertainment really only consisted of a ghetto DJ and his Karaoke machine. On occasion, the music would be hot. Oldies, hip hop, with some cumbias and country music tossed in. Nothing too over the top. Nothing that was too physically painful to hear... that is until the "Karaoke Kids" started singing. There was a group of about 6 kids who sang song after shitty song... I'm talking about the Backdoor Boys here people. Sure their music is catchy and gets far too much airplay, but if I have to hear "I want it that way" one more g'damn time I'm going to go over and shove that mic down that kids face.

So these kids would sing about three songs apiece, mostly in English but a few would be sung in Spanish. Which is okay. I'm not really a big Tejano music fan (it all sounds like the same damn song), but I do like some Spanish music. So that was cool to hear. But only about half of them could actually sing well, and the other half... uhm, nevermind.

It was about that when I realized they WERE in a group together, because at one point they all started dancing together to what was clearly a choreographed number. That's when I decided it was time to get the hell outta there. So I grabbed my friend, my very tasty cantaloupe aguas frescas, kissed moms and pops adios, and took off. It was time to get back to my side of town. Time to go home, time to leave La Raza.
