On this date in history

And by "this date" I mean, July 2nd...

1937 - Amelia Earhart and navigator Fred Noonan disappear over the Pacific Ocean while attempting to make the first round-the-world flight at the equator. Poor, poor Amelia. I still wonder about her sometimes. What she's doing. What must have been going through her mind - "Oh crap, I forgot to return that video to Blockbuster." And WHO the fuck is Fred Noonan? Why don't we ever hear anything about him? Interesting.

1947 - An object speculated to be a UFO crashes near Roswell, New Mexico, though the US Air Force claims it is a weather balloon. Riiiiiiiiiiiight.

1964 - President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act into law. WOOHOO, GET IT LBJ!

1979 - The first U.S. coin to honor a woman, the Susan B. Anthony dollar, is introduced. A clearly under-utilized coin. Personally, I think the government was saying something when they made the coined dollar (BOTH have been women). Course, I have NO IDEA what that is, but I'm sure it means SOMETHING.

Funny thought tho, I think the coined dollar really could be tons of fun at strip clubs. Spread that around.
