Thanksgiving is a very special time of year for me (and my family). It has always been my favorite holiday growing up. I mean - you've got turkey, football, pie, turkey, family, sales, turkey, and more turkey. It really doesn't get much better than that.
HOWEVER.
With Thanksgiving also comes a very sacred and special Mexican Catholic (okay, technically, it's Roman Catholic, but I think you get my drift here folks) tradition.
TURKEY BINGO!
Ah, Turkey Bingo. First, you got Bingo...which every good Catholic has played once or a million times in their life. And secondly, you got turkey... luscious, scrumptious, tastefully delicious turkey.
Have I mentioned I love turkey? Wasn't sure.
So for the last two (yes, I said 2) weekends, I have spent my Sundays playing Turkey Bingo all across San Antonio. All for the sake of providing the turkey this year for our Thanksgiving feast. Unfortunately, I did not win. Which is sad. Cause now there won't be any turkey for Thanksgiving. You see there was a lot of pressure on me to win this year - since I haven't won one since 2003 - but I just couldn't get it done. You can imagine the disappointment in my voice when I had to call my mom to tell her we wouldn't be having turkey this year again.
It sorta went like this.
Me: Hi Mom.
Mom: Hi Mijita.
Me: Turkey Bingo just finished.
Mom: Well mija? How did it go? Are we having turkey THIS year?
Me: No Mom. Not this year. I didn't get it done.
Mom: That's okay. We'll buy those turkey deli slices - you won't be able to tell the difference.
Me: I know. I guess that's better than the turkey flavored weenies we had last year.
Then I proceeded to SOB!
It's all very very sad. But we can only conclude that if we don't win at turkey Bingo, then God must not have wanted us to have a turkey this year. I mean it WAS a church Bingo.
Oh well.

Are you serious?
Not at all actually. Well, I am serious about playing Turkey Bingo and that I didn't win. But not about being turkey-less for Thanksgiving. That would NEVER happen.
