...that my four little cousins will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the furniture in their living rooms.
Wait. What?!?!?!?
Well, maybe it's not MY dream per se, but apparently it's the dream of my local "Roomstore" (furniture sales store).
Because nothing, and I do mean nothing, represents civil rights and racial/ethnic equality like a sale on furniture.
And yet all weekend that's all I saw on TV.
"Come on down. We're celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with our annual MLK Day sale. It's amaaaazing."
Are you friggin' kiddin' me?!?!
What? Is this when black and white couches get together... and make a rainbow coalition of peace and equality? I guess so.
Anyway, so I passed on THAT sale.
What a weekend!! I got my Dave and Buster's on! Twice!
So yeah. I'm now broke.
Holy shit that place is crazy expensive... and yet it's sooo much fun. I had 1600 coupons by the end of it. It was awesome! I was able to get a stuffed bear, a keychain, a big pen (no literally, it was a BIG pen. Something like 10 inches long and an inch and a half thick... hehe... it was girthy), some handcuffs (wha'?!?! Yep, they had HANDCUFFS at Dave & Buster's!), and a brand new 2" screen television that plugs into my car cigarette outlet.
That's right. I got a whole bunch of CRAP and all for just 1600 coupons (or $50 worth of power cards... however you want to look at it).
Best time of my life.
I also went to the zoo this weekend. SA (allegedly) has one of the best zoos in the country. And I gotta say - it was pretty damn fun. Everything sure was a lot smaller than I remember tho, but uhm... I guess that's to be expected. Fortunately, the rhinos and elephants were still big. They apparently DON'T shrink as you get older. Unlike the deer and monkeys (and yes, monkeys still freak me out) because they are sure are smaller than I remember them being. But I digress.
All in all - not a bad weekend.
