Still 10

There is another reason why turning 28 this summer doesn't freak me out... because in my heart, I'm only 10.

You see I must be 10, because for the last few days I've been giggling non-stop at the latest overheard in the office.

The other day we were looking at the program interest forms that were collected at the local middle school. And while we were perusing them, we found a few names to be quite hysterical.

The first being... Mercedes Driver.

That's right. This poor little girl's name is Mercedes Driver. And believe it or not, it's NOT a practical joke. Well, at least not on us. On the kid... maybe.

But I mean, can you just imagine?

Moving on.

THEN I had to laugh because there was another student whose name was Sholanda.

Which I think is funny because my boss' name is Yolanda.

Let me share how this particular conversation went:

Male Colleague (who we'll call Santa Claus - but not because he looks like a jolly ol' white guy with a big beard): This next kid's name is Sholanda.

Me: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! Ooops I just pissed myself! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

Santa Claus: (looks at me like I'm crazy)

Me: Come on! That's funny. Shhhh ... landa. It sounds like you just squished Shhhh(it) and Yolanda together. Shhhh-landa. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Santa Claus: Yeah. Funny.

Me: (walking over to my other colleague, who is laughing with me) Shhh... landa. HAHAHAH!

So for the last two days, whenever I have wanted to get my boss' attention I'll call her Sholanda.

Told you I was 10.

Anyway, so last night I'm sharing this story with The Roommate and she admits to knowing a Ben Tovar back in the day. Course it's a Latino last name, but any way you pronounce it, his parents named him "bend over".

And, of course, I will never forget the name of the father of this girl I went to HS with - Richard Head. Yes. That would be... Dick. Head. Which apparently he WOULD go by. What a dumbass.

I think the kicker tho, was my friend in college - Ammie - who SWORE she had a friend whose gynecologist was named Harry Beaver.
