A Superman blanket, two books, and a new outfit

Oh yeah, and a few things for Mom.

Those were my purchases last night.

Ya see, I like to go shopping. But I don't like to spend money. It's all very ironic... don't you think?

heh. Stop singing Alanis Morissette.

Either way, I'm all about it (talking about shopping here).

Now, the goal in mind last night was to buy some new clothes. I haven't mentioned it yet because well, it's still a little early in the game - but I've lost some weight. Enough that none (and I mean NONE) of my clothes really fit me anymore. But I still wear them because nothing says "young professional with a bright future" like sagging pants and shirts that fit me like a sheet.

Of course, nevermind the fact that a skirt actually FELL OFF my body the other day when I was climbing the stairs in my office building. Thank God no one was around. Altho last week or so, I lost my slip right in front of my boss. Oh man, it was embarassing. She gave me this look like I had just showed her my tits. Kind of freaked out, but with a little bit of envy mixed in.

Regardless, after hearing everyone around me bitch about my clothes being too big, I decided to go shopping. Now believe it or not, I am a bit picky about my clothes. Those of you who know me are like "WHAT?!?! Since when?" To which, I will reply, "FUCK OFF". But seriously, I kind of am.

Anyway, back to the shopping. First off, I was by myself. I do like to shop with others, but when I'm clothes shopping, it's usually solo. I can't explain the things I do, I just do them.

Yeah. So I went to a clothing store. I tried on shirt after shirt... and I didn't like anything I tried on. So I left. With nothing. Then I went to Target to get my mom's first gift. I decided while I was there I would look at their clothes.

Hey - you never know!

Tried on a few things. Eh. Nothing excited me (shocker, I'm sure!). But before I left, I did manage to browse the little boys section and the bedding section. What can I say? I like to cruise for guys and I'm always on the lookout for new bedding. Which reminds me - don't let me forget to tell y'all about my bedding fetish later.

But as I was leaving the bedding section I saw the coolest thing ever... a plush Superman blanket/throw. It's super soft and hella-cool. So I bought it. YAY!

My last stop was Wal-mart. Mom wants a bathing suit (why, oh why, do I bother? Can you give gift cards to your own mother?). I decided again to look at their clothing section. Hey, I'm desperate here people. Believe it or not they had some jeans and a pretty creamy brown top I was able to find and like. Leave it to me to find clothes at Wal-mart. Lord, I need help.

Now, since I am shopping alone (by choice, mind you), I couldn't very well buy something without getting prior approval. Part of my buyer's remorse deal. So I was in the dressing room and I'm asking random women... "What do you think?" and "How about this?" and "Yeah, but is it me?" (Like they would have ANY damn clue!). One woman even stuck around while I went through 3 or 4 different tops.

Ya see I have NO problem with asking strangers for their opinions. I've learned THAT much from shopping alone; never buy anything that will go on your face, body, or feet without SOMEONE giving the go-ahead. And believe it or not, it works with a stranger. Think about it. They have nothing to lose by telling you the truth. And it's not like you're gonna ARGUE with a stranger. And if you don't like what they have to say, they probably aren't going to get their feelings hurt if you don't listen to them. It's a win-win situation, if you ask me. And sometimes... they say just the right thing. Sometimes even better than what your best friend might say (altho not MY best friend, because she's always right).

So, I walked away from the dressing room with at least one new outfit! And as I was walking near the registers to leave, I also saw a couple of novels I'd been wanting to buy. No harm in that. So I grabbed them. Course I used some of the money I'd been saving for new clothes, but whatev.

Which reminds me... I don't think I've ever admitted on OSCAR that I am a SUCKER for the shit by the registers. Oh God. It's bad. Especially at cool places like Bed, Bath, & Beyond. They totally suck me in with all the crap by the register. I'll be standing in line waiting to make my purchase when it'll hit me... "OH MY GOD, I TOTALLY NEED THE PORTABLE TONGUE CLEANER!" or "THEY HAVE THOSE NEW DISPOSAL DROPS THAT CLEAN and DISINFECT!?! THAT'S JUST CRAZY! I NEED THOSE."

What can I say? I'm also an impulse buyer, too.

Yeah. Anyway, so that was what I did last night. Don't you just wish you had MY life?

I like to shop for clothes alone too, unless I go with the bestest friend in the whole world, b/c she is brutally honest and I need that, even if I want to slap her in the end...

By the way..your letter is R
