My Spidey 3 Adventure

I went and saw Spiderman 3 with the fam (my aunt, my cousin and her two children) a week ago Friday. Er, that means Friday the 4th. Yes, technically, Opening Day.

Hey, lay off. It's not like I was there Opening Night, at midnight like a comic book dork. I went Friday, after work. No big deal.

So, what did I think about the movie? It was good. Not great. Not bad. Just "good". Enjoyable, in fact. I think my favorite is still the first one, but that's just my personal opinion.

I will say about Spidey 3 that I felt it was a very emotion-driven flick. I mean, it was all about feelings and shit like that. Who wants to watch a comic book movie about feelings???!?!?! Not me. Give me some killer CGI and rockin' adventure sequences. I don't really need to see Tobey Maguire crying... TWICE! Although, props to my boy, cause he sure can cry onscreen. Holy crap.

In fact, his emotional response had quite the effect on me.

I admit it, I got teary.

Damn you, Tobey! Damn you and your tears.

Anyway. Big deal, right? Lots of women cry at (comic book) movies. The kicker this time is that I was caught. Big time.

You see, I was the lucky one who got to sit between my two little cousins. Aged 7 and 9, respectively. Now don't get my wrong, I love these little monsters; they are sweet, smart and quite the spoiled little charmers, but this time the love was wearing a little thin. Especially when at one point during the movie (the teary point - of course), the youngest (a boy) turned to me and said in what could only be described as shouting... "ARE YOU CRYING COUSIN ARI?"

Me: What? No! Shhhhhhhh!
Cousin A: (as he turns to his Mom on his right) Mom! Cousin Ari is crying.
Me: (I am going to kill this kid!) A! Shhhhh! People are trying to watch the movie.

Yeah. Good times.

I still say it couldn't be helped. I mean, Tobey can effin' CRY! He's a damn good actor, ya know.
