In translation, I will be headed to Atlanta, Georgia on Monday. I'll be there all week. It's actually a conference for work, but I have still have a couple of AmeriCorpse (purposefully spelled this way, FYI) buddies who live there so I am extended my bidness trip.
This means another blog break from me. Don't be too excited because I'll be back. With lots of stories... I hope/I'm sure.
My upcoming trip has got me thinking tho... most of you who read this are "professionals", so let's have your opinion.
It's a conference, right? And the dress (as told to us) is business casual. Which I read as "khakis and jeans". I mean, it's... a... conference! We sit around in meetings all day w/people who do the same thing we do. We're out of our offices, we are usually in another city/state. It's like a vacation where I talk about my job all day. Someone tell me why this means I have to wear a jacket/suit?!?! I am so annoyed by this. I truly want to buck the rules and wear jeans. Especially since it means I can get away w/taking less clothes. But just like I tell the kids, you represent more than just yourself. You represent the program and the college. Argh! Guess I'll have to actually listen to my own advice. Sonofa!
On a brighter note... I'm going to Atlanta. Hells to the yeah! Hip hop mecca! I love all types of music, but I especially loves me some hip hop. I love the culture (even the misogyny), the music, the people, etc. I will have to pimp out my wardrobe for this trip. More importantly... my new "little black dress" is going with. I never actually owned a "little black dress" before. Not really. But now I do. And it's pretty hot, I think. I guess I'll find out. *nudge nudge wink wink*
Peace out y'all! I'll holla' (HOLLA'!) when I can.
