So I have a story from HS I want to share.
As usual there is some background information that is necessary to telling it - so I'll begin when I was seven years old (don't worry I'm not going to tell my whole life story or anything)... At 7, I wanted to be a lawyer. I had actually planned on going into the field of law from the age of seven til I was twenty.
Crazy, huh? Yeah, well, as you now know I am NOT an attorney, but in HS that was ALL I had ever imagined I would be. And so to prepare for a future career in law, I decided to take Business Law in HS. Now, I don't know about y'alls HS experience or curriculum, but at my school if you took ANY business classes, they were more than likely a big fat joke. I remember taking Intro to Business my Junior year and I think I pulled down a 102 average. Yeah, it was pathetic. Of course, I wasn't going to complain. ;)
Anyway, so my Senior year I took Business Law. I had high hopes for this class. It was going to be a blast. I had convinced one of my HS best friends to take it w/me - I told her it'd be an easy A. Which it was. Our class was made up of students from all four grade levels. It was small with probably around 10-15 students. Go figure.
So anyway, we all got to know each other pretty quickly. One young man (whose name I cannot remember for ANYTHING) and I quickly become "class buddies". You remember "class buddies" right? The people you really only talked to IN class - but in that one class you would have together, y'all were inseparable. Yeah, that was us. I remember he was a pretty nice guy - but in a school as big as ours I pretty much NEVER saw him out of class; well, except once and it was the semester AFTER our Business Law class. But before I get to that, let me tell you a bit more about him. This kid (I call him "kid" cause he was a year or two younger than me, I can't exactly remember) had a girlfriend, he had told me as much. But I was never interested in him like that anyway. He was rail thin and probably about two (possibly even three!) years younger than me, which in HS meant social desperation (for us ladies at least).
Okay, so do you remember "Egg time" in HS? And by "Egg Time" I mean when you would see students walking around the halls or in your class w/an egg in a basket claiming that their egg was really their child. If I remember correctly it was a project in their child development class. Whatever!
Holy shit I remember there were kids who would actually make little "clothes" for their eggs or even decorate the egg baskets w/cheesy bows and tiny toys.
Anyway, so my "class buddy" (I think I'll call him Chi-Cheh since I really cannot remember his damn name) apparently was in one of these child development classes and had "lucked out" cause his girlfriend was his "wife" for the project.
Well, one afternoon I was in the Main Hallway by the administration offices between class when I ran into him and his girlfriend. I almost didn't recognize him. It's odd how w/"class buddies" that can happen. It's like one of those "woah, I haven't seen you in like the two months it's been since we had that one class together and I had completely forgotten all about you" sorta things. Anyway, so this was our interlude. Keep in mind we are in the middle of a crowded hallway w/tons of people and it's extremely loud.
Me: Hey Chi-cheh.
Chi-cheh: Hey.
Me: Awwww... is this your "baby"?
Chi-cheh: Yeah - and this is my girlfriend "Ca-Ca".
Ca-Ca: Hi.
Me: Hi. Sooo, what's your "baby's" name?
Ca-Ca: Her name is Arianna (which BTW if you're new to my blog - that's MY name).
Me: Oh? *I quickly looked at Chi-cheh. He just smiled back at me.* What a pretty name.
Ca-Ca: Thanks, Chi-cheh picked it, but I love it.
I kinda wonder if I blushed or looked shocked at that moment, but I don't think so because his girlfriend never gave me a second look as they walked away. I do recall Chi-cheh looking back at me and smiling and winking. And if I remember correctly, I think I just smiled back and shook my head - all the while thinking - "wow, that's pretty cool."
Anyway, so in hindsight, I still wonder what that was all about. Probably nothing, but it's still an interesting story to tell.

My across the street neighbor growing up named his real baby my name. Weird, since it was known in the hood that he had a crush on me for years. It freaked me out until my mom said something about how sweet it was to have a name sake. After that I just thought it was nice to have a cute little girl named the same name as me.
Was the egg cute?
Of course. She was even brown!
Awww, hell if I remember. But I mean, I can only assume that she was.
