10 years already?!

My 10 year HS reunion has come and gone ... and all I can say is at least I survived.

Barely.

Let me re-cap.

Friday night was the pre-reunion reunion/birthday get-together for my friend Erin (also - a part of my graduating class in HS).

That night was long. We started at 5:30 pm and ran until 3 am.

I had A beer and then water all night long. I was the designated chauffeur... essentially. But I did have fun. Hung out with current friends and OLD friends. It was cool.

Then on Saturday I ran an errand, took a nap, had dinner then got ready for my 10 year HS reunion.

Erin and The Roommate came with. Y'all know The Roommate was ALSO in my class, right? Well, she was.

We're all dressed differently. Me in a nice top and dark jeans. Erin in a sequin-y tank with nice slacks and The Roommate rockin' it with a plunging halter-top brown dress.

We entered the room and it was as I expected it.

I stood around chatting with the people I barely or didn't know in HS but know now.

The Roommate chatted it up with people she remembered.

And Erin had people come up to her to say Hi.

I think I waited about 5 minutes before heading to the cash bar.

$4.50 a beer people! And after I had already paid $60.00 just to walk in the damn door.

ROBBERY!

Sooooooo yeah. I chit-chatted it up with a few peeps. Talking about how many kids I don't have and how long I haven't been married for. I considered carrying around a picture of my Sarah, but figured that would be a bit on the pathetic side.

Funny shit that happened:
1. One of the "Good Looking Guys" was mistaken for one of the token "gay guys" from our class. This in fact STILL makes me laugh my ass off.

2. The gossip. Such as - "Hey, last I heard you were in a S&M group at A&M?" or "Heard you're an unwed mother, how's that going?"

3. Me going around and saying "Dude. Come on, all the 'cool kids' are doing it? No, literally. Look. They're standing over there... doing that. The 'cool kids'." Only that got old the drunker I got. Eh. What can you do?

4. The Roommate and I taking home the official title of "the drunk chicks at our 10 year HS reunion".

Yeah. So since I don't really drink anymore... I was pretty tore up after 3 beers. So by the time the 5th and 6th ones rolled around (I THINK, I really can't remember.), I was pretty much plastered.

So the big questions:
1. Did I run into any old crushes or anything like that? Not really.

2. Did I have fun? Actually. Yes. However I will admit, I was bored out of my mind UNTIL I got drunk and hung out outside with some of the old crowd.

3. Did the "cool kids" or "pretty people" stay cool/pretty? Possibly. I didn't really notice. However, I can pretty much guarantee they stayed assholes/bitches.

4. Did you make any new friends or rekindle any old friendships? I knew ahead of time none of my "friends" would be there. You know - the crew I hung out with my last year and a half of high school. But I did speak to a few people I pretty much NEVER spoke to in HS (maybe once or twice in middle school, but never in HS). Otherwise I just chilled with the people I knew one way or another but was never really close to.

Afterwards, Erin had to drive me home (as for the Roommate... well, that's HER story to tell.). At least I waited until I was home before puking the 5-6 (who knows!?!) beers I had consumed that night. And then afterwards I passed out.

If this helps - this was a phone conversation I had the next day.

Me: Hey Fredo.

Fredo: How are you feeling?!?!?!?!

Me: Oh shit. I'm "thatgirl(7278)". The one you have to call the next day and ask how they're feeling. Fuck me.
